Dr. Susan Lim is a Very Successful Surgeon

Dr. Susan Lim was born in Singapore. She was raised there, too, attending school at the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School and also The Raffles Institution. She studied medicine at Monash University in Australia—she was able to attend thanks to a scholarship she received in 1974 through the Colombo Plan. Now, Dr. Susan Lim is a very successful surgeon which has achieved international acclaim. In 1990, she became the first person in Asia to successfully perform a liver transplant.

In 2003, Dr. Lim founded a company called Stem Cell Technologies which developed biotechnologies. In 2004, Dr. Susan Lim joined the staff at Trinity College at Australia’s University of Melbourne as a Fellow.
